Balenciaga Spring Summer 2011 Mens Bags

Every season Balenciaga releases a small selection of mens bags. After so many seasons of slapping new colours onto recurring designs, it does get a little weary. However for Spring Summer 2011, I love their introduction of really bright cheerful colours, a splash of attention grabbing hues, to hype up the summer moods.

Those canvas travel bags with orange coloured leather trimmings (I want that travel trolley!) are a delight to behold! The combination of tan canvas with orange is refreshing and tasteful. As for new designs, what do you think of the weird colour blocking duffels and totes with coloured studs? It's a love or hate at first sight I think. I dislike them at first glance, but in a way, they have that techno meets lego charm that can grow into love. But in time... not for the moment.

One things for sure, I love that mimosa coloured iPhone case!

Of the many colours that is running rampant this Spring Summer 2011 season, nothing can beat YELLOW as my favourite hue of the season:-P

Hence, 2 weekends ago, I bought my Balenciaga Mimosa Double Tour Arena RH Leather Bracelet as soon as it arrives in store! Mimosa is a stunning hue amongst the Balenciaga colour family. It's so bright and eye catching, looking almost neon! Perfect to add a pop of colour when you wear something neutral. Such as my outfit for last Saturday... A white Givenchy shirt, Topman Navy pants, Paul Smith Yellow Flower Embroidery Shoes, Miu Miu Plastic Coloured Brooches and of course debutting my new Balenciaga accessory!

Colour Rush

It's a flurry of colours this Spring Summer 2011 season. Much as I love the colour blocking trend, I do not see myself in head to toe outrageous hues. So I devised my own colour blocking style toning it down just a little. Using a white shirt as the base, I surround it with other more eye poping pieces and accessories to create the colour trend.

Martin Margiela White Plastron Shirt is plain but with an unusual longer back (like a swallow tail) for added detailing interest. Balenciaga's Mimosa RGH Triple Tour Bracelet gives a yellow boost against the bright Topman 'Yves Klein Blue' Slim fit Chinos. A Jil Sander Orange Colour Belt wraps around the waist, dissecting the white top and blue bottom while giving another layer of colour blocking. Finally, I accessorise the outfit with a pair of the hottest shoe of the season, Prada's Espadrilles Brogues, a cute blue Net-net Swallow Shaped Fabric Brooch and my favourite Céline Cabas Linen Stripe (for its subtle touches of blue and red).

I am having a colour rush!

Balenciaga Pre-Spring 2011 Womens Bags And Accessories

It's a riot of colours for Balenciaga's Pre-Spring 2011 Bags and Accessories. From Papier Totes, Giant Day to Folk Messenger Bags in new colours of Mimosa (my favourite yellow!), Vieux Rose (Pale egg pink), Ardoise (Lavender blue), Grenadine (Pink) and classic hues like Noir and Praline, there's something for everyone.

That Mimosa Giant Rose Gold Hardware Triple Tour Bracelet has my name on it already! Balenciaga Singapore will however not be stocking that, but I reserved a regular stud version in Mimosa... I need some yellow for the new season:-) The 'Lego' inspired rings are also refreshing...

As this is the pre-spring collection, the designs are based more on popular and classic styles, except given a new spin with colours. Nothing too surprising. But Balenciaga fans will want all the delectable candy coloured hues! Especially the Grenadine Perforated City Bag with gold studs!

Balenciaga Spring Summer 2011 Mens Shoes

Balenciaga mens collection has been a hit and miss for the past few seasons after attempting to align the collections more closely to the womens. Nothing outstanding (or for that matter wearable) ever came out of the new brand direction, but yet nothing that were too underwhelming that can be talked about (Bad press is also publicity!). I hope the brand pays more attention to the men's division, since I know there are still a lot of male Balenciaga fans around hoping to see a revival of this highly original and avant garde Parisian house.

For Spring Summer, it's again this '50-50' attitude I see for the new Mens collection, extending right down to the footwear. A lot of recurring shoe designs (*Yawn*) are given new materials and colours, while adding a few classic loafers and boots (surprising to see Balenciaga go so restrained) to the line-up. I am not impressed in the least, except for one espadrille high-cut trainers which I am keen on:-) But only in the white and blue colour way as shown on the 2nd pic. The straw lined soles and trainer style is a unique hybrid, quite a cool design to wear around especially with half the shoe folded down. (Club 21 Mens, Four Seasons Hotel Singapore will stock this shoe at SGD 660. Still pending confirmation on what colours are available)

Balenciaga Spring 2011 bags

Balenciaga got me confused lately.
i love their motorcycle bags and collected them since 2002 and waiting each season to see what they come up next. i am surprised to see the spring 2011 bags collection, i adore the croc papier tote and the motorcycle suede bags look lovely, i also begin to like the straw tote.
but if i have to say about the overall collection i'm disappointed. the "birkin-like" bags don't impress me at all, and also most of the non-motorcycle bags.
what do you think after seeing the collection?
