My MANy Bags Trendspotting #163

Below: Designers turn to mother naure for inspirations this Spring Summer 2011... Are you ready for juicy and flamboyant prints the likes of Prada, Stella McCartney and Jil Sander?

Below: Menswear are not spared the floral explosion going on this season... Etro and Jil Sander are amongst the many designers offering floral prints for their menswear...

Nature Nurture: Spring Summer 2011 Is All About Nature Inspired!

Designers the likes of Prada, Stella McCartney, Jil Sander, Etro, Akris and many more are turning to Mother Nature for inspirations. Nature inspired prints in the most unexpected and quirky incarnations (on both mens and womens collections) are found all over ready to wear, bags and shoes for Spring Summer 2011. From juicy fruit prints (Stella McCartney) to crazy Baroque Bananas patterns (Prada) to giant neon coloured florals (Jil Sander, D&G and Etro)... the bigger and louder the better!

It's time to appreciate mother nature more now (just look at the looming nuclear crisis happening now in Japan) ... time to get some 'eco chic' going!

Check out my facebook fan page for more nature inspired pieces from Spring Summer 2011. 'LIKE' my fan page if you enjoy reading this post.

Men In Bloom

Spring Summer is here. Dull Winters are over (at least in the fashion calendar). So let nature takes its course and welcome back colours and flamboyance into our wardrobes.

This Spring Summer 2011, men are 'blooming'...and I mean literally blooming. So many flower prints running amok on the men's Spring Summer 2011 collections. Designers have unabashedly introduced flower themes from small paisley, big motifs to tropical Hawaiian prints in their collections. Boys, it's time to let your sensitive side flourish... time to outshine our dear female counterparts.

Are you ready to be a man in bloom?

Below: Etro's very colouful and flamboyant Spring Summer 2011 Mens Accessories collection...
the shoes are my favourites, especially these canvas lace-ups!

Etro Spring Summer 2011 Mens Bags, Shoes And Accessories

Etro seems to be most adapt at doing Spring Summer collections. The house of Etro is simply infused with a decadent sense of colours and patterns that fully captivate the summer spirit.

For Spring Summer 2011, Kean Etro is proposing that his Etro guys flaunt more colours, adorn more patterns and start having a rolling good time... be it at the clubs or at the beach! The shoes are the most impressive of the collection, with the patterned canvas versions in checks and prints some of my most coveted!

Tasseled loafers are also given a spot of colour thru clever details of colourful leather weave, allowing the most flamboyant dandy to enjoy a colour filled summer!

The scarves and pocket squares are always a delight to collect, adding flair to any sartorial ensembles of gentlemen dressing with their multi colour and whimsical prints. For this season, I am also especially drawn to the bow-ties... crafted in non boring fabrics, but in some neutral shades with beautiful patterns. Who wants plain coloured bow-ties when you have these?!?!

As for bags, I guess, Etro needs a better designer. The shapes and materials somewhat look overkill and old... so I'd passed on these unless you are a die-hard fan.

Other than the disappointing bag collection, I'd say, Etro has amazing pieces to stock up for Spring Summer 2011. I wonder why Singapore's Etro boutiques always brings in the most dreary and dated pieces... Please get us the more exciting ones!

Guys: It's Time For 'Booty' Call!

Oh no! Not that kind of 'call', what were you thinking?!?! This is a PG13 blog!

Yes, I am talking about the major influx of boots in all manners for guys this Fall Winter 2010 season. From riding boots, dressy boots, military boots, biker boots to hiking boots... you name it, you got it. My favourite are those gorgeous tall boots with shearling lining from Burberry Prorsum (retails for USD795) and Kris Van Assche's modern take on the military boot.

So what are you waiting for? 'Booty' calls!

Etro Fall Winter 2010 Mens Accesories, Bags And Shoes

Yet again, Etro sends out a collection of very charming and optimistic mens accessories for Fall Winter 2010. Adhering to the brand's signature multi-coloured paisley prints and cheery colours, Kean Etro also injects subtle humour in the form of birds perched on tall felt hats, or cufflinks with iconography of owls and other cute animals. "The owl is the symbol of total knowledge and wisdom, and it was all about Dionysus and the myths behind all the types of creatures and their habitat." remarked Kean Etro, Creative Director of Etro.

Colour has always been the essence of the Etro's brand. For this season, we see hues of emeralds, burgundys, purples and turquoise, a most welcoming contrast to liven up the dull winter tones of greys and blacks.

Bags are made from quilted leather, plaid fabrics seemingly from men's tailoring, injecting a sense of debonair. Classic, nostalgic and refined.

For footwear, we see brogues, ankle boots in the most striking shades of purple velvet or emerald green, with bi-colour materials a recurring feature. I am especially fond of the latter, with the bi-coloured buckle strap riding style ankle boots being the stand out.

If you want some cheery attitude to accent an otherwise sombre winter wardrobe, Etro never fails to get back some colour and optimism into your style.

The Material Boy #386

Below: I need these brightly coloured shirts for my beach vacations! The vibrant hues and prints makes me happy!

Below: These t-shirts are also a good wardrobe option for some chill time in the tropics!

Below: Pool time cool with these colourful swimshorts!

Etro Spring Summer 2010 Mens Shirts and Swimwear

These colour pieces are definitely NOT for the 'faint-hearted' men whose idea of male fashion dwells only in the realms of greys, blacks and blues. Etro's Spring Summer 2010 shirts and swimwear are for guys who wants fun and embrace a cheerful tropical summer! I love the prints and the bright hues, clothes that are for happy guys!

So who is in for a vibrant summer as well? I wouldn't mind these for my beach vacations!
