But my most favourite has to be that ethnic pattern (Khmer?) embroidered denim shirt which steals the spotlight for the evening! LOVE it so much. Of course, the model who comes with it is gladly accepted too:-P

Thank you Gucci for the invitation. What a party! One complaint though... longer shows please! :-P Can't get enough of gorgeous clothes and models... Below: Who attended the Club 21b + Tsumori Chisato Party last night? I had loads of fun! Here's the pics to prove it!

Below: A surprise catwalk presentation by Club 21b... and male models to drool! Love this asian model who is the cutest guy of last evening:-P

Club 21b + Tsumori Chisato Opening Cocktail Party: 25 March 2011

For those of you who attended the Club 21b + Tsumori Chisato Opening Cocktail Party last night, I am sure all of you had loads of fun with all the booze, canapés and lots of fashion to drool!

There is simply so much to take in last night. A well attended event with many guests arriving in full fashion glory, ready to celebrate 2 new retail destinations in Singapore. Tsumori Chisato also organised a spectacular 20th year retrospective exhibition showcasing some of Ms Chisato's most representative work of her career. I love her whimsical use of colours, textures and lots of unexpected themes. Can you imagine a knit top inspired by Piano keys? It's outrageous, but only the Japanese can make it so right!!!

Below: Tsumori Chisato 20th Anniversary Retrospective exhibition is not to be missed! Drop by Forum, The Shopping Mall to see Ms Chisato's whimsical and creative works over the span of her career...

The highlight of the evening however has to be the surprise staging of a catwalk presentation for Club 21b's very avant-garde selection of fashion brands. From Acne to Opening Ceremony to Oliver Theysken's Theory (and many more)... each model struts down the make shift runway around the stores, screaming 'ferocious'! I love this cute Asian hunk of a model's outfit with drapey silhouettes and his 'shopper bag'(See my post on 'Grocery Shopping' style bags) and the coolest haircut ever! There is also a pair of Opening Ceremony ethnic print shorts which beckons me to bring home!

I am happy Club 21b has now expanded to a seperate mens and womens store... so much to choose, so little budget... sob sob.

Check out my facebook fanpage for more pics from last night's events. (Click here) And also some of my coveted fashion pieces which I spotted last night! Do remember to 'LIKE' my fan page if you enjoy reading this post:-)

See you all at the next party!

Below: Last Friday I had the pleasure of attending the press conference of the Inaugural Mens Fashion Week 2011 Singapore... Singapore will be the 3rd in the world to have a dedicated Mens Fashion Week, after Milan and Paris. This is a very exciting news for the fashion scene in Singapore!

Below: Before the press conference, media guests were treated to the sights and sounds of some 'backstage frenzy' you usually see at a fashion show. It was entertaining to mingle among the gorgeous models and stylist, while they worked together to play 'dress up'! Look who I found... A 'Hugh Jackman' lookalike model who looked so handsome in Emmanuel:-)

Below: Another model wearing Etro SS2011... Etro will be one of the international names participating in this Inaugural Mens Fashion Week 2011 Singapore...

Below: More shots of the 'Hugh Jackman' lookalike, who is hotter, cuter, slimmer and younger... Love his silvery brocade jacket!

Below: I tried to sneak a shot of the male models undressing... but I was too engrossed in watching them myself, my fingers was too slow. Oops!

Below: Clothes from Etro...

Below: Clothes from Emmanuel...

Below: Pieces from Shanghai Tang, who will be previewing their Fall Winter 2011 collection at the Inaugural Mens Fashion Week 2011 Singapore...

Below: Supermodel, Philip Huang will be the face of the event... Seen here with local celebrities Julian Hee (left) and MTV VJ, Utt (right)...

Inaugural Mens Fashion Week 2011 Singapore: 30 March - 4 April 2011

Can you ever imagine a tiny dot on the world map, insignificant previously, to finally grow into a bright shining star on the world fashion platform? Yes, Singapore, small as it may be... will rise to take fashion centrestage as the 3rd country in the world to host a dedicated mens fashion week (after Milan and Paris). To share this piece of good news, organisers Fide Multimedia and One International Holdings held a press conference/preview last Friday for the local and international media to hype up the event.

I had the privilege of being a part of this press conference, held 55th levels up Orchard Road at Ion Sky. Before the press conference starts, guests were treated to the sights and sounds of a mock backstage setting, allowing them to have a taste of what goes on during an actual fashion show. Celebrity stylist, David Gan lends his creative expertise to style the gorgeous cast of male models, all in the presence of the many media guests. Definitely an entertaining and enriching experience to see cute male eye candy running around (sometimes half naked) and hurriedly changed into different sets of outfits by dressers and stylists. What we see on the runways are the hard work of a team of highly dedicated professionals, remember to show your applause when you attend any fashion shows. Needless to say, I enjoyed this presentation and it's many eye candies but was even more thrilled to be able to fondle the ready-to-wear pieces from participating brands for this Inaugural Mens Fashion Week 2011 Singapore.

The five day event, starting from 30 March to 3 April 2011, will showcase the Autumn Winter 2011 collections of up to 15 renowned brands (think Canali, Etro, Boss Black by Hugo Boss, Emmanuel, Versace) including some Asian big names with an international presence (Raoul, Shanghai Tang). There will also be showcase of other carefully selected Asian and Singaporean talents which enhances the depth of inspirations and experience for the event. 30% of the seats will be open to the public with tickets costing about SGD40.

Super model, Philip Huang (who has walked in countless international runways) has also been appointed as the face of this Inaugural Mens Fashion Week 2011 Singapore, adding more star appeal to this important event.

I can't wait! Singapore has come so far in being regarded as an important fashion destination, and this Inaugural Mens Fashion Week 2011 Singapore just affirms it.

Below: Another post from my Press Day visit at Club 21 Global's HQ, Como House:-P This time, it's all about our favourite Mulberry brand... Read on for some of my favourites:-) and outstanding pieces.

Press Day Visit #02: Mulberry Spring Summer 2011 Bag Collection

More Press Day coverage at Club 21 Global's Como House earlier this week:-) Here's the report from my Mulberry showroom tour of their upcoming Spring Summer 2011 bags.

Each season, Mulberry provides their loyal fans with a huge selection of bags, ranging from updated classics to new designs. Spring Summer 2011 is no exception. Amongst the many choices we are lovingly showered with, I had a very tough time narrowing it down to this few I adore the most. Not that I am becoming a girl, but if I was (which is not likely to happen, I like being a guy:-P), these are the bags I would carry myself:-P Girls always seem to have more fun in fashion and I am sometimes very jealous.

1) The Tillie family is new to the season and takes on the hot trend of school bag style satchels which everyone is clamouring about. The Tillie family is relaxed in shape (I especially love the soft and slouchy powder beige sparkle tweed, exemplifying the casual 'one bag fits all occassions' attitude) and characterised by eye catching trompe l’oeil hardware closure (a luxe solid metal piece engraved with outlines of a belt buckle, creating a new hardware signature).

The Tillie family's consists of 3 key styles, the Tillie, Tillie Tote and Tillie Hobo (there are also additional variants such as Oversized Tillie, Tillie Drawstring Shoulder and Small Tillie Drawstring Messenger) These 3 key styles is created to suit the lifestyle of any cool and sassy Mulberry girl. Both the Tillie and Tillie Tote have a shoulder strap that allows for hands free cross body carrying, while allowing for hand carry option. The Tillie Hobo on the other hand has a smarter appeal and looks ready to carry it all for the working girl. A glamourous bag for both office and off-work play time. Special thanks to Mulberry's sweet and pretty PR, I am able to demonstrate how the bag looks on a actual person (the benefits of showroom visits!). From the modelling pics, size is simply proportionately perfect for any girl. Wear the Tillie in your way, sweet or sassy? You decide:-)

Below: The sweet Powder Beige Tillie is the epitome of masculine/feminine contrast... a school boy style satchel that seems to share the same attitude of its famous sister, Alexa... except the Tillie has more bling and glam with those metal hardware. Don't you love the rose gold colour of the hardware?

Below: The trompe l’oeil closure buckle is a signature detail of the Tillie family:-)

Below: Comes in Oak Silky Snake Print with a chain shoulder strap... a touch of exotic and bling to up the luxe factor!

Below: Details on the side...the Oak Silky Snake Print is trimmed with metallic leather and embellished with metal rivets:-)

Below: The D-Ring hardware on the front, another recognisable detail for the Tillie family...

Below: A versatile style, the Tillie Hobo is just right in proportion never overwhelming a girl's build, and yet functions perfectly as an easy tote with options to hand carry or arm sling...

Below: Or even cross body sling with the shoulder strap...

Below: The Tillie Hobo no the other hand, is smart and roomy for all your office needs...

2) Another of my favourite is the Small Bayswater Satchel. Bayswater is the bag that propelled Mulberry's to fashion stardom and success. I welcome this update to the now classic design. Trimming it down to a more petite size and added a shoulder strap, this is one bag for lazy afternoon tea and a stroll in the city. This version of Powder Beige Maxi Grained Leather and Rose Gold hardware will especially win the hearts of many girls.

Below: First impressions of the Small Bayswater Satchel is 'SO CUTE'... A dainty bag for all those afternoon high teas and sunday shopping...

Below: Looks great being shoulder carried:-P Don't you agree?

Below: Rose gold hardware is simply gorgeous...

3) Lastly, the most scene stealing bag amongst the entire collection and also one of the most expensive Mulberry bag ever made... The Jewelled Lily in Camel Suede. Intricately embellished with aplenty gold studs, diamonte and crystals, this meticulously crafted 'work-of-art' outshines its bag peers and is the ultimate show-stopping arm candy for evening parties. That is if you can 'shoulder' the weight (so much studs!) and also the astronomical price tag of approx. SGD9,000:-)

Below: Pricing is astronomical and perhaps not for everyone... but undeniably the Jewelled Lily in Camel Suede is one scene strealer with all that bling and glam:-P

Below: Look at the intricate work involved to decorate the entire Lily bag:-P

Which one will you pick? With so many styles, there's bound to be one Mulberry that will tickle your fancy this Spring Summer 2011:-)

Below: Yesterday I had the pleasure of attending the press day for Marc By Marc Jacobs... lovely SS2011 menswear collection I see myself wearing much... Thank you to Club 21 Global. Very enjoyable experience!

Below: Racks of upcoming pieces for the picking...nah, I'd wish! Time to touch and feel and even try on the pieces:-P Colour is the first word that strikes me when I enter the press room...

Below: Marc By Marc Jacobs Spring Summer 2011 channels a youthful college energy of young boys scouring vintage stores or ransack old closets to put together clashing mix of colours and patterns for an upbeat look...

Press Day Visit #01: Marc By Marc Jacobs Spring Summer 2011 Menswear

Today I had the privilege to attend Club 21's Press Day for not just one, but 3 of the brands under their portfolio, namely Mulberry, Marc By Marc Jacobs and DKNY Jeans. Doing a press visit is most delightful, as this is the best opportunity to get updated face to face on the ideas and themes of the collection, but also first hand to get to touch, feel and view each individual pieces up close and personal.

Therefore, I can be more convincing with the recommendations of my favourites, knowing I have personally experienced and seen each piece and not solely relying on pictures.

So first of my favourites from today's delightful press visit: Marc By Marc Jacob Menswear Spring Summer 2011

To be honest, merely browsing over Style.com's runway pics was not enough to excite me to like the collection. No doubt the bright colours, graphic stripe patterns and youthful energy are a sure winner for summer time, I cannot seem to envision myself adopting the looks.

But as I step into the Marc By Marc Jacobs showroom, one thing that strike me immediately... the upbeat energy emitting from the colourful menswear collection was much stronger when you can see the pieces in close proximity. The whole rack of delectable mens shirts, jackets, parkas somehow appear more wearable than it seemed on the runway. I was thinking to myself, I can wear this, or that or this or maybe this and this. I was definitely excited by the collection. These are clothes that make you happy, feel good and hence it's a thumbs up in my books.

I can name quite a lot of favourites, but I will narrow it down to these few, which ranks top on for me.

1) As a blazer fan, I am an instantly drawn to this wrinkled cotton mix (I suspect it's woven with linen) blazer in beige pinstripe (slightly greenish tone). The fitted cut, with a slightly shorter body, semi light-weight fabric (giving structure and hence not slouchy) cuts a smart silhouette any day on any guy.

Below: Love this pinstripe blazer, not everyday you encounter a light coloured pinstripe version, something formal turned casual smart immediately... fabric is not too slouchy but is semi structured to give more shape. Fitted cut for a great silhouette...

Below: Remember to throw in a pocket square for dandy flair...

Below: As seen on the Spring Summer 2011 runway... love this look!

I love the touch of pocket square peeking thru the pocket which adds to the dandy charm of the pinstripe blazer. We have usually seen pinstripe in sombre hues of greys and blacks, so it is refreshing to see a summer version in lighter tones. The blazer also comes with options to pair with baggy high-waisted shorts or suiting pants.

Both work well in my opinion, but I personally prefer the nonchalant style, achieved with the cute baggy schoolboy type shorts. Wear with trainers or sandals, you are all set to jet set for your next beach getaway! The Spring Summer 2011 runway has featured both pieces worn as seperates, and they go well with strong graphic stripes in neutral or bright tones. Highly recommended!

Below: Wear with this pair baggy shorts for a more relaxed look... very cute!

Below: The neutral coloured fabric of the shorts means you can go wild on colours or stay neutral... the slightly high waisted cut is boyish young:-)

2) Next up, I am a sucker for colours in summer. So naturally this Orange red cotton paisley print short sleeve shirt falls into my favourites list. Although it is worn under a trench as seen on the runway pic, the little spot of colour peeking from the collar is enough to spice up the otherwise plain look. So guys, do not shy away from colours... it's only when you overdo it, that colour will work against you. Bright colours accent your neutrals. Furthermore, when you inspect the fabric closely, you will also see interesting paisley pattern which gets u in touch with your softer side. Not a bad thing sometimes, to mellow down that over bearing masculinity that we often hang on to so dearly. Women loves a guy who knows when to express some sensitivity. If that is not enough to convince you... then this makes the perfect Chinese New year house visiting shirt. All your friends will welcome you as you simply scream good luck with that striking red:-)

Below: My next favourite...this bright orange red paisley shirt. Time for colours, boys!

Below: I adore the patterns... tiny flowers in complimentary colour tones...

Below: As seen on the runway..although only the collar is revealed, the colour is striking!

3) Another of my favourite has to be this contrasting stripe sweater that can be worn on it's own or under a jacket. The striking graphic stripe pattern in yellow/grey is bold, extending your 'girth' (okay, not for bigger guys) to enhance your stature. I am slim, so I welcome this visual illusion. One admirable detail for the sweater is the contrasting panelling of stripes in another colour on the sides that adds visual interest and colour depth.

Below: Graphic stripes is a strong propostion in this Marc By Marc Jacobs Spring Summer 2011 collection...

Below: The details of contrasting panels and varying thickness of the stripes creates an interesting visual pattern...

Below: As seen on the runway in red and grey colour...

4) Lastly, I need to get this Khaki Green Light Knit Cardigan! It's a must buy! I love it for it's versatility and low maintenance (it's wrinkly! No ironing needed!). I also love it for the light weight knitting, keeping you sufficiently warm on summer breezy days but not suffocating you in sweat. Of course, the cardigan being Khaki colour, my favourite has that extra special attraction for me. am bias when it comes to Khaki green tones. So grab one for timeless appeal, it's a great piece to have not just this upcoming summer but any other summer season that follows.

Below: I love this light-weight wrinkled knit, low maintenance and transcends seasons...

Below: The stripe weave and wrinkled treatment makes it slim and fitted and can visually trim a few pounds off you! Khaki is also a very versatile colour:-) LOVE!

Enjoy the pics. If you are in Singapore, check out the duplex Marc By Marc Jacobs flagship store at Mandarin Gallery soon. Lovely collection that I am sure will resonate with that youthful zest in you. The collection is highly wearable even as seperates!

Thanks to Club 21 Global for the invite! More press day information to share soon... stay tuned.
