Christian Louboutin Studded Shoes: Airport Security Woes

A week ago, before I embark on my new year's holiday to Bangkok, I was asking on my facebook if I will run into any problems with airport security wearing my Christian Louboutin Studded Freddy Flats. Guess what, my fears were not unfounded... it seemed someone in the USA did have a close encounter with the airport securities with these famed and sexy dangerous footwear. Here's the article as featured on this site:

TSA Doesn’t Like Christian Louboutin’s
January 2, 2011 / By Matt Halfhill

We have heard of TSA officials giving grief to passengers passing through security with spiked Christian Louboutin sneakers in the past, but thankfully tAz Arnold aka ti$a took a quick pic to document the harassment. According to tAz, TSA officials attempted to confiscate his $1245 Christian Louboutin Rollerboy Spikes citing that they appeared to be “weapons.” We checked the TSA regulations website an apparently you can get away with metal scissors, hand tools including screw drivers if less than 7″ in length, but apparently 1/4 long “spikes” with dulled tips spaced evenly across a shoe is a problem.

Thankfully ti$a and his $1200+ shoes did make it through but be warned that the next time you go through security, TSA may be out to take away your dignity and your shoes.

TI$A, next time we suggest you rock your collab kicks you did with Stamp’d LA and check the Christian L’s.

Take a vote: Is Christian Louboutin's Studded Footwear posing a 'threat' to air travel security or no? Will you still wear your Freddys or Rollerboys on your next flight? Comments please:-)

My MANy Travel Inspirations: Tokyo (Part 2)

Below: Meiji Jingu entrance... tranquil and scenic...

Below: A leisurely walk towards the shrine... fresh morning air amongst the scenic walkway:-)

Below: Harajuku... and it's people watching time! Shopping time too!

Below: H&M, it's a building full of fast fashion!

Below: Just a short walk across the Harajuk junction, it's the posh and luxurious Omotesando Hills mall and district... many international brands have their presence here. So crowded, it's overwhelming! Finally, I have been to a Ann Demeuleemeester boutique:-)

Below: Dolce & Gabbana store window...

Kevin In Tokyo: Part 2

Yes, finally can spend a night at my hotel in peace, without joining my friends for their snow crab dinner:-P I need that rest. Enjoying a respite from the snow in Sapporo...it's magic to experience real snow:-)

So now for more pics of my Tokyo visit.Day 3 of Tokyo and it is shopping time! From the youth culture of Harajuku, to the luxurious temptations of Omotesando Hills... it's shopping heaven for any level of fashion fans.

Harajuku is perfect for people watching, to absorb the unique dress sense that only Japan can claim. Might not be my cup of tea, but it is so fun to watch. And I also tasted the famous Marion Crepes which has been established in Harajuku since 1976. Yummy! In Harajuku, you also find international fast fashion chains the likes of GAP, H&M (no more Lanvin x H&M except odd pieces here and there), Topshop. But what I really enjoy checking out is the mall, Laforet. The mall similar to Far East Plaza in Singapore with individual proprietors but 100 times better! So many interesting fashion pieces to see, so many trends to absorb! Japan menswear trend seems to be high on American Triad style and outdoor mountaineer (Think Oregon) gear. Many hiking boots, Navajo prints and puffy quilted jackets!

From Harajuku, you can walked across the junction into the posh and luxurious Omotesando Hills. A mall which stocks international luxurious international brands from Ann Demeleemeester, YSL, Bottega Veneta, Brooks Brothers Black Fleece and Dolce & Gabbana. But of course, these are good to view from a distance and not surrender your credit cards since the prices are way much more than Singapore's. Furtherdown the streets, you see flagships of Loewe, Céline, Chanel, Martin Margiela, Burberry. Even Ralph Lauren has its own building!

Enjoy the pics! I also include those taken at Meiji-Jingu. Perfect photo expedition:-P

Below: Drawer with all the different predictions of your future when you ask for divine help... just match your number on your slip to the drawers... interesting:-P

Below: More Senso Ji Temple...

Below: Time for Ramen!

Below: Grilled minced chicken skewers with different toppings!

Below: Time for shopping... Ginza! Many luxury brands have their flagships here, and it's not just a store front... it's a whole building!

Below: Busy streets of Ginza...

Below: Hermès flagship in Ginza, one tower for the ladies and one for the guys... I faint...The glass facade makes the buildings glow like a lantern:-)

Below: Bazaar like atmosphere of Ameyoko, many things are sold here, from seafood, wholesale Japanese tibits, clothing and many more...

Below: Fallen yellow leaves at Ueno Park...

Below: Tokyo is so warm, feels more like autumn than winter...

Kevin In Tokyo: Part 1

Just wanted to share some pics I took of Tokyo. I have not been shopping as much as I had wanted to, since pricing in Japan is simply way off the charts. I cannot bear paying 30% more of what I could get at full retail price in SG, much less with the sales ongoing in SG!

So here's some snap shots of the places I have visited so far, taken with the magnificent Panasonic Lumix GF1 camera... I cannot believe how good this camera is. Now I know!

Enjoy! I am off to Hokkaido tomorrow... hectic schedule but onsen to soothe all the aching muscles and 'chastity' away:-P Oops...

Braun CruZer and BodycruZer Stylers - Illegally Hot Styling

There are cheesy ads and then there's this TV commercial from Braun (master manufacturer of styling and shaving devices) that tops the list as my most corny ads ever. However, being imbued with larges does of hotness, sex appeal (from the so hot and cute male model Gonzalo Teixeira), it is sometimes 'legal' to pay a visit to 'tackyville'. Who thought of the idea?!?! Boo to you for that, but thumbs up to you for the gorgeous male cast. Having a major nose bleed now...

Happy Friday everyone...eye candy time!

(If you enjoyed this commercial, check out another hottie from my previous post here)

Inspiration Thursday!

Tokyo Incoming: Wardrobe Planning...

If money is no problem, and items readily available... What would I wear on my upcoming 'virgin' trip to Tokyo? Land of the rising sun is mecca to radical fashion fanatics. Should I go all the way? Probably not. I cannot pull off or have the guts to mix and match in the most odd of manners like the Jap guys.

But I would be happy to try what I have sketched today:-P Ah... Some Balmain military cool. A lightweight Céline Cabas, some easy walking 'cut-out' shoes from Jil Sander, slouchy ribbed T-shirt with amazing braided detail from Mihara Yasuhiro. And a nice pair of Khaki pants to round off the look. (Okay maybe this outfit is not winter proof... but imagination knows no weather patterns. :-P should make me stand out while not shouting out?!?!:-P)

Oh lastly, I want to keep my hair longer with asymmetric fringe, Manga style, here I come! Need to blend in with my destination:-P

(See my other sketch here:-P)
