Bayport Bag in Batik Fabric

Just finished this Bayport Bag in a Batik! Yes, it's going to a special someone for a Christmas gift!  Could it be YOU?

I did a couple of things to make this bag special.

1. I hand quilted around the leaves in a contrasting thread. 
2. Instead of the yo-yo options to cover the back of the snap. I made a fabric covered button and then stitched it to the yo-yo and then the yo-yo over the back of the snap.  

I am happy with the result . . . I think it turned out quite nice. I hope she likes it!

Hand Pieced, Hand Quilted Hexagon quilt for my Grand Daughter!

My grand daughter (and first grand child) was born a year ago. She was premature and I spent lots of days in the hospital with my daughter while she was in pre-term labor and then weeks waiting for little Miss Makena to be strong enough to come home. So how did I pass the time??? Quilting of course. Here is a photo of my daughter and Makena one year later at Makena's birthday party, draped in the quilt.

I stitched up this clutch bag in about 30 minutes!

Now I have to say that I am not a 'glitzy girl' BUT
if I was this would be the perfect candidate for
some beading or crystals!

Grandmothers Flower Garden - Variation for Makena

Did you know I am now a Grand MaMa? My first grand child has arrived. Her name is Makena. I started this quilt in the hospital while I was waiting for her arrival. I find hand sewing hexagons is an excellent way to pass the time and quiet my mind. I continue to add to it in the evenings in front of the TV. It's going to be her 'big girl' quilt for her twin bed.
